YEN-HUA: 360 Xochi Quetzal Resident in Installation and Mixed Media
Category : XQ Resident Updates
A very talented Taiwanese artist, Yen-Hua, was here in Winter of 2014 as the 360 Xochi Quetzal Resident in Mixed Media. During her residency, Yen-Hua turned out more work than most visual artists complete in 6 months. Her energy and work are formidable. During her residency, she managed to arrange a 1-week exhibition at the Train Station. This month, Yen-Hua has returned to Chapala for a major month-long one-person exhibition at the new cultural center in the center of town.
Featuring wall paintings and installation with string that connected one wall to image on another wall, Yen-Hua continued to amaze her audience by her powerful mural size black and white imagery. Her work continues to resonate with themes about home, homeland, community and disconnection. In addition to the wall installations, we were also treated to two new videos featuring her artist books.
The artist was on hand at the opening to answer questions about her work and very interesting life.
Gallery is open from 10:00-2:00pm and 4:00-6:00pm daily.
